This area is now part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Limbertwig apples are thought to have originated in the early 1800s, most likely as seedlings brought by settlers to the Appalachian region. The apple probably dates from the late 1800s to early 1900s. The largest of the Limbertwig apples, Myer's Royal Limbertwig
